17 October 2017, Canada: IBS Software, the leading global logistics software provider has formed a Shared Services Consortium offering shared technology platform, shared flights service and managed services for oil & gas operators and service companies in the Canada region. The consortium will comprise of North Sands, a workforce transportation solutions provider in Western Canada, Flair Airlines, an airline based in British Columbia, apart from IBS. While IBS Software will provide its flagship product iLogistics (as the shared technology platform), North Sands will deliver managed services (for workforce requirements of multiple oil & gas companies) and Flair Airlines will bring to the table its flight services (for sharing of seats amongst different oil & gas clients). The consortium is expected to significantly improve the operational efficiency of the logistics sector.
Set against the backdrop of dwindling oil prices and uncertainty in demand, the oil & gas industry is looking at ways to significantly reduce the overall logistics spend of companies as an integral part of its cost reduction strategy. The offering of the shared services consortium to optimize operational efficiency through a collaborative asset sharing environment is an important step in this direction. The partners of the consortium will leverage the strengths and expertise of each other in their respective domains to bring a collective synergy for optimizing upstream logistics operations.
“Establishing a Shared Services Consortium delivers a strong message on our commitment towards “logistics as a service” model. IBS and North Sands is bringing a paradigm shift in the logistics industry by providing an integrated and shared model of people, assets, process and technology. IBS is now looking forward to expand the collaboration models to Oil and Gas, mining and health care logistics industry with right partners across the globe” said Remasankar S, GM & Head, Line of Business, IBS Software.
“A Shared Services Consortium providing the ability to share valuable assets and common services through a collaborative model is the step change required for the oil and gas industry to evolve in a “lower for longer” economic environment. Synergies achieved utilizing integrated end to end solutions, incorporating best practices provided from a single point of contact to the user increases both oversight, efficiency and cost control.” Said Mike Malone, President – North Sands.
