Bracknell (UK), Mar 18: Avient has signed a major contract for delivering its airlines solution TopAir to ItAli, a start-up charter airline operating from Rome. TopAir is an integrated flight management solution for managing the key activities of an airline. Avient Solutions is IBS’ Centre of Excellence for Flight Operations in Europe, which IBS acquired from Honeywell in 2003.
The acceptance from ItAli brings the total number of TopAir users to ten, all based in Europe. TopAir won five customers in 2004, viz., Farnair (an alliance of European Cargo airlines), Alpi Eagles (Italy), Darwin Airline (Switzerland), Windjet (Italy) and Hello AG (Switzerland). Among TopAir’s other customers are Blue Panorama (Italy), Iberworld (Spain), First Choice Airlines (UK) and Swiss (Switzerland). Having carved a niche for itself in Europe, IBS now plans to establish TopAir in the Middle East, USA and the Asia Pacific regions.
This high-end software product manages the entire gamut of airline logistics including scheduling, budgeting, fleet planning, service management, crew management, flight operations, aircraft maintenance planning and finance control activities. An integrated solution that avoids data redundancy, TopAir makes operations easier for scheduled, charter and executive airlines. It is already third in the European airline market in its product category.
IBS acquired TopAir from EDS (Electronic Data Systems) in 2002, and has currently positioned it as an international product customised for different global market regions. TopAir has been developed in close collaboration with a number of airlines to ensure that every concern of an airline is addressed.
