Trivandrum, 16 Dec 2006: Software Companies in Technopark and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) have formed a Technology Collaboration Council (TCC). ORNL is a multi program science and technology laboratory managed for the U.S Department of Energy by UTBattelle. The TCC will explore and implement on areas of potential collaboration between theParties.
The MoU was signed between Technopark and ORNL at a joint meeting held at Technopark last evening. As part of this collaboration, the Parties would first identify areas of common interest for research and development. They would further explore opportunities to exchange personnel towork on technically challenging projects, and participate in lecturers and seminars.The formation of the Technology Collaboration Council was initiated by IBS Software ServicesPvt. Ltd.
According to VK Mathews, Chairman and Managing Director, IBS Group, “ORNL focuses on basic and applied research and development to create technology solutions. Research is an integral part of the plan that Technopark companies use to create solutions and provide services of or their clients. There are potential areas of synergy between ORNL and Technopark. The purpose of the TCC is to empower our organizations to harness the potential that ORNL offers.”Dr. Jeffrey Wadsworth, Director – ORNL said, “This alliance will significantly enhance our own research and development capabilities as it enables our access to both facilities and resources from Technopark. Besides, this will open new avenues in the way we conduct our research and manage projects by adopting the remote operations methodology practiced at Technopark.”
