Oracle Certifies iFly Res

07 April 2014, Trivandrum: We are delighted to inform that IBS’ Passenger Reservations suite, iFly Res has achieved “Oracle EXALOGIC Elastic Cloud and EXADATA optimized status”. This feat puts iFly Res to join an elite list of Oracle certified technology solution; amongst PSS solution it is unique as the system scalability and performance is unrivalled by any vendor on next-generation Oracle technology. IBS’ iFly Res has been tested and tuned with these Oracle engineered platforms to deliver unmatched speed, scalability and reliability to airlines with up to 100 million passenger carrier transaction signature.

The Oracle platform is a cohesive and pre-integrated architecture that can dramatically improve application performance, scalability and deployment time whilst reducing operational and support costs. This achievement certifies that iFly Res can be deployed in the Oracle EXALOGIC Elastic Cloud and EXADATA platform to meet highest standards of reliability, availability, scalability and performance for a wide variety of time sensitive, mission critical workloads; thus enabling the application to scale effectively and support high business volumes without any compromise on the response times.

A team of 25 techno-domain experts were involved, over a 6-week period, to complete the test by creatively setting up an environment that truly represented a production environment. Oracle on its part had assigned a 12-member global team from Australia, Singapore and India to oversee the full gamut of the performance test. The solution was put through 3 major dimensions to attain the full certification criteria evolved by Oracle.

  • Performance Testing: with critical transaction mix to mimic production environment for 2,000 flights per day on a base load of a 100 million passengers to validate the scalability of the application and environment. This test validated the system performance, sizing for the platform and co-hosted application to the limits of the system and environment.
  • Endurance Testing: with critical transaction mix at steady state for an extended period of time (48 hours) to validate the endurance of the environment and application. This test validated the system performance at all tiers without performance degradation over time.
  • Scenario based tests: with critical transaction mix to identify how the system and environment responds to real-time scenarios as in production. The transaction mix included real-time updates of fares, fare discounts, flights, schedules, taxes and surcharges simulated with production load.

The iFly Res architecture reaffirms IBS’ PSS vision of a credible alternative to current legacy solutions is now a practical possibility; the certification in the Oracle engineered platform confirms the product availability, scalability, reliability and manageability to support mega sized carriers. By leveraging the inherent capabilities of the Oracle EXALOGIC and Oracle EXADATA platform, iFly Res can process transactions faster than before; thus boosting transaction speeds and eliminating bottlenecks at peak periods for a widely varied performance sensitive and mission critical workloads. This certification authenticates iFly Res architecture compatibility to work with sophisticated industry leading solutions in meeting the stringent and challenging performance, scalability, security, and efficiency needs of large volume airlines.

IBS considers this certification by Oracle experts as a true endorsement of the capability and robustness of iFly Res and a major step in our journey to help large airlines migrate to a next-gen PSS platform. We would be pleased to take you through the detailed process as well as share more details of the certification.
